Activity : To identify the nature of the solution using litmus paper test.
This session was a form of structured inquiry.The students carry out the experiment, analyze results, and form a conclusion. They were provided with the below information-
Litmus paper is used to determine whether a solution or substance is acidic/ basic in nature.
It works as a chemical indicator.
Acids turn blue litmus red, whereas Bases turn red litmus blue.
Learning outcomes-
1. Students will observe the process of changing the colour of indicator.
2. Students will test different common household items and observe the color change in from the indicator.
3. Students will understand the cause of the color change in the pH indicator.
4. Students will use litmus paper to determine whether a substance is a strong or weak acid/base.
5. Students will use the internet as a research tool.
